Contact Lens Evaluation and Fittings
Contact lens wear can improve the quality of your life, and we strive to fit you in a healthy, comfortable alternative to glasses. Contact lenses are an FDA-recognized medical device used to correct vision for therapeutic or cosmetic reasons and require proper care and maintenance to prevent injury and/or blindness.
As with prescription medications, contact lenses can only be dispensed pursuant to a prescription of an eye care practitioner. This prescription will have parameters specific to the contact lenses that are fit and is different from a spectacle prescription. No substitutions can be made on the prescription. Different types of lenses and wear schedules have varied risk. Although the risks associated with contact lens wear are small, they are still real and we strive to fit everyone in the healthiest modality possible.

Soft Contact Lenses
Most contact lens patients wear soft lenses. Advancements in technology mean that today patients with astigmatism can be fitted in soft contacts, and patients with presbyopia can wear multi-focal lenses that help them see both near and at distance in the same lens. Advances in lens materials have created thinner lenses that help keep your eye hydrated all day.
Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses
RGP lenses are used to correct some types of refractive differences, including astigmatism. These are not the same as the hard contact lenses of years ago. Modern RGP lenses are made of lighter material that allows air to move through the lens.
